Case study: Grand Seiko showcase at Bay Nine Omakase

VIP clients savour the tastes of Japan with a bespoke culinary experience at Bay Nine Omakase.

The run sheet

Luxury watch retailer J Farren-Price recently partnered with Grand Seiko to showcase the latest novelties from the Japanese brand.

To mark the occasion and introduce the range to a select number of VIP clients, J Farren-Price and Grand Seiko took their clients on an immersive culinary journey through Japan at Bay Nine Omakase, where an exclusive 8-course meal and whiskey pairing brought the flavours of Japan to Sydney.

The ‘WOW’ moments

Bay Nine head chef Yul Kim curated a 8-course menu especially for the event, with meticulously crafted dishes that featured premium ingredients such as caviar, gold leaf, tuna belly and sea urchin.

While chef Yul introduced each dish to guests amid the intimate surrounds of the venue,  House of Suntory ambassador James Buntin created a whiskey pairing experience, with a unique drop from the Japanese distillery expertly paired to each course.

“The menu was definitely the highlight for this event as well as the personal experience with chef Yul, who was also very accommodating and interactive with our guests on the night,” said Jackie Jimenez, marketing manager at J Farren-Price.

The result

“From the get-go, The Venues Collection (TVC) team were able to bring our vision to life and accommodate our needs and requirements. They understood our strict brand guidelines and were always available to talk through any changes (especially last minute) which allowed for a successful event enjoyed by our VIP clients. We worked collaboratively with TVC on all aspects of the event,” Jimenez said.

Grand Seiko Australia & New Zealand account manager Kelly George added: “Bay Nine is housed in a unique heritage building with a minimal design, complementing the look and feel for our event.

“The event brief we provided was to bring traditional Japanese elements to life within the space and take our clients on a journey to Japan. The bespoke menu designed for the evening was of the highest standards and guests felt very honoured to have enjoyed such a world-class Omakase experience.”
